In The Zone

It's Shredfest '07 in the Leib house this week. The way things are looking, we'll be closing late September to mid-October on the building. I have a strange feeling that I won't have the time or energy to sort through things once my attentions are shifted to things like moving the couch out of the apartment and sanding down floors. For the time being I'm opting to direct my excitement and energy -what's left of it after this week anyway- to the "little things." This means sorting through stacks of paper... deciding what's worth moving with us and what merits a run through the ole paper shredder. No, no guitar here... just me, a stack of papers about two feet high, and our little Fellowes shredder.

Other than organizing, starting to get things organized for packing, and making calls to banks and Realtors, I've also started to delve into researching my family tree. Grandpa Fisher did a lot of research a while back, which I found while I was sorting through files. That's actually what tipped it off... finding that packet with information about the furthest-traced ancestor on my Mom's side, a Lord Petrus Jean DuMont who was born in France in 1611. I want to find more details about the work that's been done on Mom's part of my tree, and I want to compile the information available on Dad and Debba's side and flex my researching muscles to find new information. What's a history degree if I don't get to be the family historian, right?

It's amazing that he traced your family back to 1611! That is no small feat.

On another note, CONGRATS! Owning a home is amazing. It certainly helps to get rid of "clutter" items/paperwork before moving. When I moved in with Dave, unfortunately I was so excited to do so that I just packed stuff up not noticing if I even needed it. Anyway, short story long, we have a junk room that is useless unless we go through it and donate some stuff and it would have been easier had we done it beforehand.
